Over-the-counter hormonal creams may have more effect than women think, according to a new Bassett study.
Non-prescription progesterone cream gives women just as much progesterone as prescription oral supplements, said Dr. Anne Hermann of Tampa, Fla.
"Essentially, women are getting prescription-strength progesterone when they buy this cream," Hermann said Thursday.
Women typically use progesterone cream to alleviate symptoms of menopause and premenstrual syndrome.
